Am I losing weight cause my scale says otherwise? Please help!!!?

I am 19, 5ft 5in, and on a 1,400 calorie diet. I NO longer drink juice, soda, or any sweets or candy. All I have been eating was fruits, veggies, protein, dairy (basically the main food groups). I have even been doing 35mins of cardio 4x a week and will be doing weightlifting next week. I am also 190 something pounds? Here is the problem: I weighed myself on Feb 26. and my weight was 197lbs. Then I weighed myself the next day Sun.Feb 27 and the scale said I weigh 193lbs. After this weigh in I worked out all week then I weighed myself Saturday, March 5 and the scale said I am 194lbs. Then I weighed myself again today Sunday March 6. and the scale said I weigh 193lbs.

I don’t know what to think. How much do I weigh? I have been using a new digital scale I got last summer. I even took out the batteries to test the accuracy and still nothing. I weighed myself on hard tile floor first thing in the morning before i eat and after I use the bathroom. I even weighed other things on my scale like a 12lb dumbell and it said it weighed 11.6lbs which was like .4lbs off.
I have been going to the gym for a week and expect at least a pound lost. I mean I do feel alot lighter and my clothes fit slightly loser, but still.

Try weighing yourself once a week. Try not to worry about daily fluctuations which could be water differences or feces accumulation in the intestinal tract. Also, use a tailor’s tape measue. Every month, measure your circumferences. I know it is painful, but do it for the truth. Just, don’t pull in tight. Measure as is, the same way. Then, also, try on your baseline clothing. Take pictures of yourself or have a family member take photos in your leotards or skivvies. Use these other means of comparison. Keep up the good work.

Don’t ever rely to much on the scale. It depends on what time of day you scale yourself. Also where the scale is placed. So you never have an accurate reading. You should throw out the scale and only weigh yourself at the gym. If you are eating healthy and excersising then of course you’re going to lose weight. By time you’ll see that your bodys going to change as you said your clothes are looser and you feel light. You’re doing great.

Digital scales are accurate. The reason why it’s changing like that is because of daily fluctuations. If you have to weigh yourself every day, then do it at roughly the same time. That will make it more accurate. Oh, and just because a dumbbell says it weighs 12lbs doesn’t mean it weighs EXACTLY that. Wear and tear can do that, and just because your scales say otherwise doesn’t mean it needs to go in the bin.

P.S: Gaining muscle makes you weigh more, if that changes anything

There are more tips and info.

    1. If what you are eating has less than 1 carb, count it as 1 carb just to be sure.

    2. Totally avoid caffine at least for the first two weeks on the program.

    3. Drink a MINIMUM of 8 glasses of plain water or seltzer daily.

    4. Don’t weigh yourself more than once a week

    5. Take starting measurements as well as weight – sometimes you’ll lose inches before pounds

    6. Avoid any type of "low carb" sweetener for the first two weeks

    7. Don’t compare your loss to someone else’s – this is a YMMV thing (your milage may vary)

    8. Stalls are common around the third week so don’t panic

    9. If you follow your plan to the T and don’t lose, consider Candida as a possibility and avoid vinegar, cheese, mushrooms and any other fermented food

    10. Have bloodwork done before starting so you have a comparison

    11. Cholesterol can be elevated in the first few weeks til your body adjusts – make sure your doctor knows that you’re doing low carb and when you started

    12. Don’t blame the diet if you don’t read your plan book — blame the diet if you don’t read the labels — Don’t blame the diet if you don’t follow the diet
Good Luck and Take care :-)
