Baby Bottles and Limescale?

Any tips for removing lime scale residue from the bottom of a baby’s bottle?

It’s obviously left over from the steam during sterilization and I don’t want to use a chemical such as those available for kettles.

I know about white vinegar but don’t fancy trying that in case it leaves a smell/taste.

Any other ‘natural’ products I can soak the bottles in?

I boiled the bottles in water and vinegar. It was the only thing that worked. You don’t use a lot of vinegar so it does not have a smell at all. I tried lemon juice and everything else but the only thing that worked was the vinegar. It also kept the pot that I was using to boil the bottles in nice and shiny and clean!

The vinegar is perfectly safe to use. :)

All the natural products you can soak them in will not be as good as vinegar. The smell and taste goes away – evaporates.

Use bottled water for steam sterilizing. I am on a well with hard water and would have the same thing happen if I used our tap water. Never had problems with the bottled water though. I also use bottled water to prepare the bottles.
