Does EVERYONE in the UK own kitchen scales?

I paid upwards of 60 US dollars for a digital scale to weigh ingredients but what do poor people in Europe do if they can’t afford to buy a scale?

    i do
    and most people do

but although i am in Scotland
i use more and more american recipes
so i also own cups, and i have to admit it makes much more sense
i use it more and more now

    i have wireless digital scales
they look like a clock on the wall
you take the outer disk off and put on the counter, weigh your things and the remaining disk on the wall tells you your weighs

    awesome
but the cup method is so much easier

Scales are cheap here in the UK, not every household has one though, mainly because people don’t have time to bake their own bread (That’s what scales here are mainly used for, baking).

We have cooking shows that urge us to use them and also our government is trying to cut down on household food wastage and obesity, so if you do live in the UK and reading this, save yourself up to £680 a year by getting one and visiting:

A digital scale can be from £10 and up ($16).

I don’t know about the rest of Europe.

Most cookbooks I have from the UK give measurements in weight rather than volume, so I suspect that a large portion of people DO have scales. In the US, most cookbooks give measurements volume.

Weight is the more accurate method but the US is hard wired into its cups and tablespoons, so I think the scale revolution is a few years away on this side of the pond.
