E2 Navy salary enough to support a baby?

I’m not familiar with the pay scale, is anyone here familiar with it?
Sorry if that was vague, my fiancee is in boot camp and wants to have a baby when he gets out, but I haven’t finished Nursing school. So if I were to get pregnant, I’d need to make sure that he can make mends meet with that income.

Probably, but you will not live a life of luxury. E-2 male about 20,000 a year. But if you haven’t made e-3 in the first 6 months, you are doing something wrong.

The military will provide medical coverage and a housing supplement, but generally not while you are in training (may have changed – but definitely not during boot camp). First 6 months to a year will be your most difficult.

And E2 is not higher – it is a lower pay grade than E3…

Go to this site for military pay scales.

I don’t know the pay scale, but I know that my boyfriend was an E3, and he made a shit ton of money–enough to support himself AND send a bunch of extra to his girlfriend at the time.
Sooo, seeing as E2 is higher, I’d say yeah, it should be enough, as long as you live a modest lifestyle. :)

My family of 4 is doing fine here in Iowa on $1200/month total (I’m full time student on GI Bill). My wife is Romanian though, and doesn’t have retarded spending habits, she also actually knows how to cook, saving a metric f**kton on food bills.

My ex-wife, back in the day, managed to bury me in debt in less than 6 months when I was an E-3. We had one child at the time, but she still managed to wrack up $50,000 in debt overnight.

In short, ask yourself how much of a spender are you and your husband.

Well, unless you are married, or you are willing to give custody of the child to another family member, you will not be accepted for enlistment. Single parents cannot enlist if they have custody of the child. You cannot regain custody at any time during your first enlistment.

Not a very good life. You can mangage but you won’t be doing ANYTHING.He’ll make about 1400 a month. You’ll live on post if your married so you won’t have rent but you’ll still have bills. If you get a job as well then it wouldn’t be as bad but living off of just him would be very difficult.
