Friends bump is of the scale?

She has 3 weeks to go and her bump is massive …the midwife said today it was off the measurement scale and they might induce her….does this mean her baby is HUGE? Or could it be water/placenta? Anyone else had this?
yes…she is having scan tommorrow…she is all swollen up too.

I measured 46cm a week before my due date. The midwife thought it was all water and booked me in for a scan for the following week. At 4am on the day of the scan my waters broke and gushed absolutely everywhere, I couldn’t believe how much there was!! During labour more and more water kept coming out – the midwives said they’d never seen so much!

There can be complications if there is too much water but I’m sure your friends midwife is keeping an eye on things. I was advised to go straight to hospital when mine broke because the baby can drop suddenly when the plug’s pulled LOL and end up in a tricky position e.g hand / arm first. The good news is, I lost nearly 3 stone just from giving birth, so I must have been carrying so much water. Good luck to your friend and tell her not to worry if she has to be induced, I was with my first and it was fine!

It could be a big baby or it could be a lot of water, did the midwife not offer her a scan to see whats going on?

It could be hydramnios – excessive amount of amniotic fluid.

I was HUGE too I had people saying "oh a xmas baby" a week before xmas even though I wasnt due until mid February, people asked if I was having twins, loads of midwives told me I was having a big baby, but my son was only 7lbs and 8 days over due!
