I had 2 natural births and they are painful, I’d say a 10 but if you can use some breathing and focus methods it can help you to stand the pain. After birth it goes right away but the next 2 or so weeks after is hard too.

It’s different for everyone and it’s natural to be scared of the unknown. If you are afraid of the pain arrange with your doctor to have an epidural.

I would rate it at an 7.5. I had a natural drug free birth. I would have said it was the worst pain I have ever felt, until I had my wisdom tooth pulled out in the dentists chair. The needles weren’t working as I had 2 other nerves that they didn;t know I had and took 3.5 hours to get the dam thing out as it’s roots were joined. I would give birth every day for the rest of my life over having ONE more wisdom tooth pulled out.

in my personal experience, as a woman who cannot get epidurals because of back injuries i have suffered in the past, childbirth pain was 10, all 3 times. Luckily only 1 labor lasted 12 hours, the rest were less then 3 hours from first contraction to baby.

You will have pain when you have a baby, but I tell you, once you see the baby and hold them in your arms the pain is forgotten fast. It’s just another part of nature and that’s why women can tolerate more than men.

The labor is like feeling like you have to go to the bathroom and can’t. If you have ever had a bladder infection, it’s like that but times 1000. What I never heard, and I read all the books, was how much pain I would be in afterwards…

not sugar coating it at all, picture the worst pain you can imagine and times it by ten.
however once it is over its over, and so worth it, and within a few months you will totally forget.

i’d say its about an 8 on a scale from one to ten when i had my daughter it was very painful cause my ob turned my epidural off when we started pushing an i pushed almost 3 hours then her shoulders got stuck on my pelvis bone so it was slowed down but i’d do it all again

Everyone is different, but just try and think to yourself that when it is over you will have a lovely baby.

My baby is 5 weeks old and the labor was not half as bad as I expected. My water broke at 7am, by 10am I still had not dialated any. They started pitocin at 10:30, I started to have contractions but by 4pm was still only 1 cm dialated, from about 4pm to 5:30 was the worst, I would say the pain was a 10, but then the anesthesiologist came and gave me an epidural and by 9:00 pm I was 10 cm dialated and ready to push, baby was born at 9:27 pm, I did not feel any pain at all after I got the epidural, not even during the pushing or when he came out. I think I dialated so quickly after the epiduaral because I was able to relax. I had an episiotomy as well, my baby was 8lbs 7 oz. Don’t let anyone tell you that an epidural will prolong labor, everyone is different but for me it sped things up and I have heard this fro several women.

I was terrified of the pain, but as soon as the baby came out I knew I couold do it again that it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected.

    For me? like a 5….
I had my baby at 32 weeks vaginally and she only weighed 4lbs. I had the epidural before I went into active labor so I only experienced the beginning contractions and they were a breeze. They hurt, don’t get me wrong, but they’re were more just annoying because they were happening every 4 minutes or so. Once I had my epidural, it was nothin, I didn’t feel anything until her head dropped ready to come out. Then it just felt like pressure – It felt exactly how it sounds – like i was trying to push something out of my vagina! I pushed three times and she was out. I will say that all of the minor complications occurring during labor sucked and thats where I give it a 5. I had to have an internal fetal monitor, catheter (every three hours), an oxygen mask, my bed was tilted so my head was toward the floor – oh it was a nightmare! But worth it… definitely worth it…
