According to the way you weighed him, I’m guessing he weighed about 8lbs…that is fine….My son is 2 months now and weighs a little over 11 pounds and he was 6lbs 11oz when born. try to weigh him on baby scales,,those are the most accurate. He should double his birth weight by the time hes 6mo. But keep in mind, each baby is different…as long as hes healthy and growing….you shouldn’t worry

Didnt’ you have a 2 wk check up to see how much he weighs?

My daughter is also three weeks…when she was released from the hospital she weighed 7lbs 13ozs and when she was born she weighed 8lbs 8ozs…Her two week check up was a lil’ late and when we went she weighed 9lbs 7ozs…Just as long as they are at or above their birth weight the doctors are happy.

Why hasnt your son had a 2 week check up? Even if its a little late he needs one. My son was 6.7 when we came home from the hospital he was 7.6 at his two week. As long as the baby is gaining weight and not dropping dont be concerned unless its a huge amount of weight compaired to his height then your dr will mention it to you

I know that my daughter actually lost weight during her first few weeks. I was concerned about this but her pediatrician said it was perfectly normal and that she should be gaining her weight back. Every baby is different, so don’t worry too much. If you’re feeding her as much as she wants when she is hungry and tending to her every need, then don’t worry. Your pediatrician will let you know if she isn’t gaining weight appropriately. Good luck and welcome to motherhood!

It sounds like your baby’s doing good. He’s gaining weight, not losing it or standing still, so you’re good! You also have to consider, if you had a traditional hospital birth with an iv, that during labor your baby will gain some water weight from that iv. So if he gains very little, or even drops some right at the beginning, that’s most likely why.
Oh, and you don’t have to get the "well baby" check ups. Anybody with healthy babies should really steer clear of most all dr.s. I highly encourage you to do your own research! Informing yourself about parenting and taking control of your child’s health is a very admirable thing! Don’t take dr.s completely out of the picture, but keep them in their place–for when your child’s sick!
