I just had a baby 2 months ago. If I can handle that, I can handle a tattoo on my chest, right?

I’m 17, and I want a tattoo on my chest, It’s got my daughter’s name. If I can handle giving birth to a 6 pound baby, I can handle the pain of a tattoo. Right? On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is the pain when it’s on the chest?

I had my son, natural vaginal birth, no drugs whatsoever. 8 months later I got my first tattoo on my upper back, it was small but it didn’t hurt nearly as bad as having an 8 pound baby. The one on my foot hurt a bit more and the one I have that extends from my side to my hip and a bit on my leg was the most pain I ever felt in my life I think. Mostly because that one was done after my son’s 2nd birthday and your mind blocks out the pain from child birth! I say if you want a tattoo don’t be afraid of the pain, it is temporary, but your tattoo lasts a lifetime.

Yeah, I suppose. I’ve heard that the pain of giving birth is equivalent to the pain of a guy grabbing his ball sac and stretching it around his head.

Don’t get a tattoo on your chest! No offence but they look trashy. What if you want to go to a nice dinner, or wedding, do you want everyone to see that with your nice clothes? I have 5 tattoos all in places that can be hidden, but seen if ii’m wearing a bikini. Just my thoughts. What about getting in on the back of your neck under your hair?

Yes, I’m sure you could. But if you’re still breastfeeding, you need to put off getting the tattoo.

Also, just because you have a child doesn’t mean you’re an adult… Odds are, you’ll probably still need parental consent before anyone touches you.

its really not as sore as its made out to be. it king of feels like scratching yourself really hard over the same part. you get used to it after a couple of minutes also and don’t even notice it. although this is based on a guys upper arm. a tattoo on the breast i woudln’t now about.

    A couple of thoughts.

No the tattoo experience can’t possibly be equivalent to giving birth (I am a man so I don’t have detailed knowledge on this) But I would wait a few months longer because I would guess with lactating breasts you might experience pain more so then when your body fully heals. Also I have heard that women who get their tattoo the week prior and the week of having their period hurts more. So track your cycle.

Second thought is in the US consent to having a tattoo is 18. Some jurisdictions will allow 16 with parental permission. I suggest you just wait a few more months until your body has healed and you are of legal age. I personally believe that a parent that gives their minor child permission to get a tattoo doesn’t have the kids best interest at heart. Your a tad different since you are basically an adult with a child of your own.

Also, I have been recommending lately that you get a henna (mehndi) tattoo for a few weeks before a permanent one. That way you can see if you really like the placement and the tattoo itself.

    I hope that helps!

i would say a 7.5. there isnt much muscle and tissue at that place, i went with my friend who was 40 to get hers on her chest saying her daughters names and she cried. but she said it was worth it in the end. good luck! :)
