Is the $25 Oneida digital kitchen scale supposed to read "0" with the bowl ON it?

I just bought this scale and I’m confused that the display reads zero with the bowl ON it, and negative something with it removed. Is this correct?

Yes. If you want to use it without the bowl, you need to reset it when the bowl is off. But since it’s usually best to weight stuff in the bowl, that’s why it’s set that way at the factory.
