Kershaw Chill; Disassembled, Reassembled.

The Kershaw Chill, model 3410 is a sweet knife; even more so because of it’s incredibly low price. Even a cheap knife like this one is worth maintaining, though, and for that reason I’m showing you how to disassemble and reassemble it. You may also be interested to see the simplicity of design that you get with Kershaw, and the great care and detail that went in to making this one of the smallest and lightest, not to mention least expensive, “Gentleman’s” pocket knife you can buy.

Nice informative video. Is it possible to assemble the knife without the backspacer to give it a full flow-through design?

Great idea. I’ll try it and see if it works.

Tuns out, no, it doesn’t reassemble properly without the back strap. The Nerve/Blitz, however, does! I’ll try to make a vid soon on that.

I’m over the moon that this knife uses Allen keys, as I’ve just ordered one. I HATE those Torx bits with a vengeance. What’s the point of stopping a person from disassembling his own knife??

I decided to take apart my Kershaw Chill because the blade wasn’t sitting centered and was rubbing on the lining when deployed and i was worried about it being damaged. I initially tried to tighten the pivot screw but tightening it even slightly caused the blade to lock up. After taking it apart it’s only gotten worse and i’m sitting between either not being able to deploy it at all and having it so loose that each deployment causes the screw to loosen. Any ideas?

@JohnMarsh92 If it were my knife, I’d do the take down/reassembly over again, and see if anything improves. If that doesn’t get me there, I’d contact Kershaw for warranty repair. I’ve had good experience with their customer service thus far. Good luck!

I noticed in your previous video that you mentioned that the blade didn’t quite center between the liners. There are 2 bronze washers on one side and only a single bronze washer on the other. The single washer side is also the side where the blade is leaning towards. Is it possible to move one of the washers to the other side? This might fix the blade centering although this would cause the liner lock to apply maybe too much pressure to the blade. Great vids btw. Ordering one soon.
