possible to cross a comet and pearl scale?
i want to try this, even if they are ugly babies i wont throw them out.
my comet is a confirmed female, and my pearl scale is a confirmed male.
my main questions are:
is it possible?
will they do it on their own?
how to encourage them to breed
just answer the questions, i am well aware of the consequences

Though I generally disagree with crossbreeding, I think a comet-shaped fish with those pearly scales would look beautiful. Plus, fancy goldfish, with their round bodies don’t even occur naturally like that and they live out full lives. So I think the fry wouldn’t grow up to be too deformed if any.
Goldfish can be encouraged to breed when temperatures reach about 75. They will generally mate in the morning on a spring day. You need to keep the goldfish at cool temperatures (possibly even separated) for about 4 months and then VERY slowly raise the temperature up to 75. All the while you need to feed them high protein foods such as freeze dried bloodworms, or even live food is better. Hopefully they will do their thing shortly after the temp warms up. Although it would be difficult to get 2 different kinds to mate.
