too overweight to have a baby?

I am 5’3" and I weigh about 165lbs. Do you think that I am too overweight to have a baby? I have been exercising 3 times a week for last 1 and 1/2 years but the scale doesn’t budge. Just wanted an opinion.

are you happy and healthy? I am overweight but I am fitter than alot of my friends can run fast and go for longer I am pregnant and it does take it out of you but if you have been doing regular exercise for that long you will prob be a much healthy mum than the skinny twit that drives her car everywhere and smokes and drinks.. go for it if that want you want. just switch to a low impact exercise once you become preggers and you can keep it up through out pregnancy until you feel it’s all getting a bit much heheh

You might have a hard time getting pregnant, and when you do you run the risk of have diabetes while pregnant, which can effect the baby greatly.

You can certainly do it, but it wouldnt be the best scenario ever.

I’d talk with your doctor about some ways to loose weight so you can have a healthier easier pregnancy and postnantal life.

No. You are not too overweight to have a baby. I have seen 300lb women have babies with no problem. You are only a few pounds overweight. Go for it!!! Good luck.

You are not at all. Many overweight and obese women have totally healthy babies!

your fine. I have know women that were 300 lbs. and had no problem gettting or staying preg. Don’t listen to people like the first person who answered you. most people go by stic. and I can tell you that is not a real way to look at life. I was overweight with all my pg’s and had none of the problems metioned above. In fact all 3 were textbook perfect according to my ob/gyn.

if you have been excersizing that much and not loosing weight you must be doing sdomething wrong…it may be your caloric intake.

in my opinion try going on Weight Watchers for a few months to drop some weight it is an excellent program if you stick to it! Speaking from experience. then start trying to conceive.

i think you would have a much easier time being pregnant if you were healthier and just think how much better you would feel. and you would have the strength and energy you would need.

I don’t think your weight will affect your fertility. Although I’m not a doctor, I think that you’d have to be way overweight/obese to have real problems. Of course, it’s better to be as fit as you can when you get pregnant, that’s true. But I wouldn’t make the leap to say that your extra weight will prevent you from getting pregnant. I’d speak with your doctor if you’re concerned. Good luck!

I dont think so I weight way more than that and had a baby 8 months ago I did have high blood pressure though. I weighted 175 when I got pregnant with my other child and had no complications. it also depends on your age and family history I think u are still on the safe side

you are not too overweight to have a baby, but I would try to not gain much at all during the pregnancy. all these people saying that 300# have normal pregnancies dont see them all. 300# women actually are pretty high risk and are a set up for a cesarean and no doctor wants to operate on 300# of woman, that is just asking for complications, infection and worse.

    Only women can have babies.
