I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to take a photography class, but I’ve never had the opportunity to. Now that I am in college I really want to take one. Anyways here are the only 2 classes the college I go to offeres (that don’t require other Prerequisite classes) are:

101A Introduction to Graphic Communications…………………………………..4 QH
Explores two-dimensional space by recognizing and manipulating design elements
in a logically consistent and formally coherent manner using simple
means of point, line, plane, shape, mass, scale, composition, and color.

GRC 131A Introduction to Graphic Imaging …………………………………………….4 QH
Introduces students to industry-standard, image-editing software which contains
tools for designers to produce sophisticated graphics for the Web and print.
Students will learn basic image adjustment and retouching as well as techniques
for manipulating and combining images.

Neither of those particularrly sound like what I want. Also neither of those classes would count towards a degree (unless I want to major in graphic design, which I don’t think I do).

Now community college offeres a class that I think perfectly fits what I want:
GR 160 Digital Imaging:
Students will study and practice designing with photographs utilizing digital photography and image editing software. Students will create product, portrait and landscape digital imagery, manipulate them in image editing software, and finally utilize in print graphic design projects. Emphasis will be placed on creating images and manipulating them in Photoshop CS2 to achieve desired results for print design.

The thing is I don’t have money to pay for it (I am paying for college with financial aid and schoalrships) and it wouldn’t count towards any type of degree or anything either. I really am thinking I want to switch to community college though instead of the university I am at.

So what do you think I should do? Take one of the classes at my college just beacuse even though they wouldn’t be towards a degree. Take the class at community college and pay for it outa pocket. Switch to community college and take that class. Or don’t take any class?
